Are you aware that Microsoft will discontinue Windows XP end user support on 8th of April this year? Windows XP has been in use for the last 12 years.

According to NCR (National Credit Regulator) Windows XP powers 95% of the Automated Teller Machines (ATM) in the world. Once Microsoft stops the end user support for XP, all system using it will be open to security threat.

Microsoft has been warning consumers of these deadlines but not many people have taken it seriously. Windows 7 is the main choice to replace the ageing Windows XP.

The upgrade of the ATMs will cost banks thousands of money since some of the ATMs are too old to support windows 7. This will translate into a hardware upgrade.

The new generation ATMs is so fast and easy to navigate comparing with the old generation which is too slow. The old generation had buttons but the new generation have touch screen.

The upgrade to Windows 7 will be a win to the consumers because the basic functionality of the ATMs will improve significantly.

If you are still using windows XP, it’s a high time you upgrade to Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1 before XP dies and you experience the blue screen of death.
